| MXRI F-22 Horizontal Lockheed used their existing facility and MXRI built a manipulator that would fit into the vault and allow enough room to scan a F-22 rear horizontal and various other parts. The most critical part of the scanning process of the F-22 structure is the alignment of cell walls at each location. Along with the alignment the Focal distance for each shot needed to remain the same. To achieve this process MXRI produced a custom manipulator that would allow for tilt and yaw changes in the cell structure and remain at the same Focal distance throughout the scan. For special parts, a micro-focus source was added to the system. When a particular source is selected, the manipulator system moves the correct source onto the centerline of the Image intensifier. |
